If you're flying from the capital city of Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur, you will need to take a domestic flight to Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA), which takes around 2 hours 30 minutes. Airlines that serve this route include Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia and Firefly.Alternatively, you can also fly directly to KKIA from Singapore. This route is served by AirAsia, Scoot and Singapore Airlines. For those travelling from Europe, the most convenient airlines are the Middle Eastern carriers such as Emirates, Etihad, Qatar or Turkish Airlines. They have daily flights from Dublin with easy connections to Malaysia. The journey from the KKIA to Shangri-La Rasa Ria is approximately 45 minutes by car. From the airport, guests can travel to the resort via Grab (A local Uber alternative), private transfer services and taxis.
It's best to stay at the venue itself - Shangri-La Rasa Ria Resort. But if you're looking for other option, Nexus Karambunai or Borneo Beach Villa are some of the nearby suggestions however these are still resort-type accommodations with few services in the immediate surrounding area.If you plan to spend a few days in Kota Kinabalu there are ample hotel choices in the city centre and many Airbnb options. If you need some more information or advice on hotels there, please get in touch with the bride or groom.
